When People Hate Your Art

You have to take everything people say with a grain of salt. Some people are trolls. Some people are negative about anything you do. You have to learn to ignore them. Ignore the haters. The haters are usually haters because they are jealous. You become successful and they become jealous. It’s all too common.

Take it with a grain of salt. Let it roll off like water off a duck’s back. Nobody’s opinion matters but yours in the end, anyway. And, if people hate something that the vast majority of people like, it’s because they are simply trying to go against the grain. Chances are they don’t actually mean it. They are negative because they enjoy making other people feel bad. Why? I don’t know. Maybe has to do with their childhood or their feelings of self-worthlessness. But you, as the artist, need to look past these negative people because in the end, their opinions mean absolutely nothing. You know that what you’re doing is great. You know your art resonates with people. Don’t let a tiny minority of haters (or a hater) get to you. Everyone has haters if they are in the public eye. If your art has a big effect on a large amount of people, that’s what really matters. You are having an effect.

Remember, having haters means you’ve made it. That’s what they always say. Be yourself. Always be yourself and be true to your art.
